Call it an H-Back, Slant TE or whatever you like
it helps out against edge rushers especially one's that play the 3-4 as seen by the Patriots in the JFC champinship game against San Diego.
And it helps out our aging OLINE in the running game against 8 man fronts. And gives us another look!
I stand by my stance --> TO KEEP SHOCKEY OR NOT?
Keep Shockey use him in dual TE or as a slant back and continue to develope Boss in the more traditional TE!

we can come out in a 2TE set on 3rd and short or less
.. this forces the other team to go to there short yardage defense... line up the 2-TE in tight to the tackles then have Shockey and Boss slide out into the slot.. now you have forced a linebacker to cover one of them and a safety to cover the other one... plus we have A 6-5 WR A 6-3 WR A 6-5 TE ... A 6-7 TE AND 6-4 RB aginst the other teams short yardags defence
... i think this a mismatch all over the field...
