TO TRADE SHOCKEY OR NOT?

the board and newspapers are heating up whether the GMEN should trade Shockey---->
It just kills me how a large percentage of the fans are even thinking trade. So much to be said for team loyalty, though we expect that from the players. Shock helped get us to where we are.

DON'T YOU KNUCKLEHEADS FORGET THAT!

So many of you make me sick with talk of trading Shock. Sit down and shut your pie hole!
Personally in my opinion, Shockey should be used as an offset the left tackle (H-back) the same way that Joe Gibb's Pigskins did in there glory days. And Boss as the more traditional tightend on the field at the same time!

Offcourse Shockey would be the more featured receiver............. and his run blocking dominace would help out greatly on off tackle to the left runs which suffered last season a bit with new LT David Diehl @ a new position

BUT, it is VERY REAL!

In conclusion this writers opinion is:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss cannot sit because he has to develope , better with Shockey around than NOT. If you have read my posts here, You would know I'm more FOR KEEPING Shockey than trading him@!

. However if I choose between the two of
(the soon to be even larger contract of Shockey) .............or the developing young Boss

I choose Boss for his ethics teamwork his potential , his chemistry with Eazy-E
and the fact not only because his number is #89 but his resemblance IN PLAY to Bavaro!

***
Shockey would dominate as an H-Back it would show he's a team player not a me guy, and it isn't so that much different than being a TE, and it would give us another offensive formation on the field or another look if you will.

........***And it would help our offensive line which is getting older and no true dominant knock down blocker other than Snee and Mckenzie on the right side!

Explain this please... Do you want the Giants to switch up their entire offense and go for more of what:

1) Buffalo did last year?

or

2) Do more what a Joe Gibbs offense did when they invented the position for the purpose of slowing down LT?

HOW is that switching up our entire offense? the Patriots did it against the Chargers used two offset TE's when Brady wasn't having his best game to support there running game and to help passblock against the ends. Showing different looks is not switching up the offense!

And on occasion as much as maybee 10% we have two tight ends in anyway with Boss and the other blocking TE, Matthews, or Shockey and Matthews

how is this any of a different of a philosophy tell me. If you have the GUNS put em on the field even together
(isn't that what making Kiwanuka a strong side LB'er was about?) getting our best personal on the field?)

Why not Shockey and Boss on the field at the same time?
Yes it takes Hedgecock off the field alot of the time,
but where do you miss Hedgecocks blocking abilty in having Shockey on the field?
....and you gain another passing threat in making him your H-back, think about it?

This is where I think you're confused.

You said above: "Yes it takes Hedgecock off the field alot of the time, but where do you miss Hedgecocks blocking abilty in having Shockey on the field?"

Isn't an h-back a hybrid full back/tightend? Aren't they also called an "f-back"

So what it seems you are suggesting is to ALWAYS have Shockey and Boss on the field together at the same time so it doesn't waste their talents and Boss gets to develop.

Yet you suggest that wouldn't switch the entire offense. How does that work? Going to a 2 TE set wouldn't switch the entire offense? Why is it so important that both have equal playing time? Just so the best play makers are on the field? Boss is not in the same league as Shockey yet so I don't know where you're getting the idea that Boss MUST play every down.

Unless I'm missing something when you said "Boss can't sit because he has to develope" Aren't you suggesting they BOTH need to be on the field at all times?

Offset the left tackle "is considered the backfield" since when? and how many times do we only have one rb in the backfield be it Bradshaw accomanying Manning in the shot gun or Jacobs or ward as the lone set back

lining up another TE offset left tackle 1 yard behind is considered "the backfield" since when in a way it is but come on really

I mean I'm not suggesting that Shockey replace Hedgecock ....or be a fullback .....Come on there is a big difference between a blocking back and an offset TE or H-back

Since when? OK OK, in a way it is but come on really

How mmany times were we in a 2 TE package during the season anyway maybee 20% anyway?
